Re: [LUG] OT: Mobile data, WAS: Interesting Linux info

Only gone over 1GB once? blimey, I'm on pay as you go and am struggling to burn through the 150MB "free" allowance, then again all I tend to do is use twitter and browse hexus/bit-tech/webcomics.

So, does that mean that my 'unlimited Internet' on my Palm Pre is limited to 1GB/month?

Very probably.. The unlimited means they're not limiting what you can do with it.

Ecept they are - as you'll probably find that "streaming" is prohibited in their T&Cs... And they'll force-proxy all your web traffic.

They're outright liars - just like the broadband companies who lie about their unlimited data packages too, yet no-one has challenged them about it!

Yup, I get 1GB on Three, that's their idea of unlimited internet.  Okay to be fair I've only gone over my usage once, but I don't use it half as much as I would do if it was say 3GB allowance.

I got 1GB with my Vodafone PAYG 3G modem, I've had the modem nearly a year now and still got about 600MB left.  Saying that I don't use it much, mainly because I struggle to get any reception at home (plus with my home broadband being much higher usage levels, I don't see the point in using the mobile broadband unless I need to test something over another connection).

I guess with regards to the proxy, at least on a laptop you can tunnel into your home network and use that connection as a gateway?
