Re: [LUG] Lighthouse in Paignton

Quoting Rhia Knowles <rhiadratech@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>:

Yep Paul, Bob was my boss. Last I heard he had semi-retired and was into
landscape gardening now! I miss all the guys there, to be honest.

Well, i'll try for Sunday. Dont think we've got anything we can donate,(they
certainly won't want the laptop lol) but im sure if someone at lighthouse
put out a Freecycle request someone will have an old CRT they can donate (I
might ask at college too, but i think they are all TFTs now, except for the
Macs...)

Just having an extra hand would be ideal. I've spoken to Paul off list about going a bit earlier over there on Sunday, for about 1pm. I'm going to contact Mark shortly to confirm if it's okay, as it'll give me a bit more time.

Long term I think they will probably buy new monitors, maybe also new keyboards and mice (since they're cheap). I gather they have a budget to work to anyway.

So Sunday will mainly consist of trying to get 6 working PCs, I say working, basically one or two might not have any memory, so it's a case of swapping memory out and getting at least 6 machines powering on, and with any luck passing at least 1 pass of Memtest86 (not sure if we'll have time to do any more than 1 pass on Sunday). I'll also try and remember to bring my BT Home Hub and a couple of patch cables so we can setup a test network to make sure these PCs can PXE boot.

Once we know we have at least 6 PCs (maybe more) working then we can plan then to get some monitors, keyboards, mice, network kit and a server, and then the fun starts, putting it all in. :-)
