Unfortunately windows seems to require a pagefile and thus if you dont tell it to use any partitions for it it will force the page file to be placed in your installation partition. You cannot remove it (afaik) so the best option is to put it somewhere fast.

Go forth and chastise yourself, if you like. However I've lost the
thread of this argument anyway and your post above just leaves me
bewildered. Who is Mr Bma?

At the risk of going off topic, I would be interested to know if anyone
has a sound argument for 'putting the pagefile in RAM' on a Windows
machine. I think it's a really surreal suggestion. If you don't want to
page to disk then just turn off the pagefile. Much simpler. This is
ignoring, for a moment, that any OS worth it's salt (and I include
Windows) should be able to sensibly use a pagefile and therefore having
one should be an advantage in nearly all circumstances.
