Either open a terminal and enter: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras or search for it in Add/Remove programs or Synaptic. What it will do is download and install all the codecs you need to play non-free proprietary video/audio files, and it'll also download Flash from Adobe and install it along with a few other bits (IIRC Java and the Microsoft Truetype fonts such as Ariel, Times New Roman, Tahoma, Verdana etc).
