that's just daft. Wifi is just has security problems equal or more so
than plugs. Is your village on one mains circuit? If the whole place can
get broadband from a "homeplug" in your home then you must be paying the
electric bill for the entire village, so why worry about giving them
broadband as well!

In any case the new high speed devolo plugs have encryption that works
by pressing a button on the base of the plug or/and software for
linux/mac/windoze if you don't trust that. The older ones, just as good,
just have the software.

Another option, though the plugs are the best one, is a linksys router
of the right sort. If the firmware is changed you can use it to connect
wirelessly to your other router and then connect it via a ethernet cable
to your PC. Look up tomato on http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato.

But really the plug option seems to be a no brainer..
