I've been using Wordpress for a couple of sites recently, but I think
for static content it is a long way behind Drupal, and by the time
you've done the complexity in templates and such like to achieve the
same effect, you might as well have used Drupal (or written your own
template!).

That said if all they want is a simple site, and they aren't too fussy
over the layout of each page, as long as they look good, are consistent,
and easily updated - Wordpress it is.

Multi-user CMS tools are always going to be quite complex, and that has
nothing to do with the technology, and a lot to do with people.
