The impression I get from previous research (but never used either) is
that Joomla is great for a quick fix but soon starts to get a bit
creaky for large complex sites. Drupal may have a steeper learning
curve but has a cleaner and solid architecture so is especially good
for more serious endevours.

Is that a fair appraisal?
