Furthermore, NetworkManager (if you use gnome), has a plugin to help set up the VPN tunnel (client side). There are samples provided with OpenVPN that help make the configuration of the server easier. You will still need a port forwarded from your router/firewall, UDP (recommended) or TCP to the OpenVPN server.
