I have to agree with the original poster of the above bug report, that
this repartitioning scheme is "unusual" to say the least, and I have not
met one like it anywhere. Secondly, if I was a "semi-knowledgeable" user
who had provided the partitions already, I find it extremely poor of
Debian not to provide an option to say "use these partitions". Expecting
a user to run parted after the install, and then re-expand an extended
partition, is not only a possible source of losing the user their data,
but probably not something that your average user would want to do!

As my first foray into looking at Debian I have to say that this has
been quite an eye opener, and not a pleasant one.
