Windows 95 (original - as Scotty would say 'No bloody A, B, C orrrr D! ;)) Windows 95A Windows 95B OSR2 Windows 95B [1] OSR2.5 Windows 95C (USB support... well.. it tried... ) The only was to tell them part was the size/date of win95_2.cab file. Each was different and unique to that version of Windows, hence as a phone based tech you could tell if the customer had made a Horlicks of it and tried to (for example) update Comms with the wrong version. Annoyingly Windows in its' infinite cretinocity [2] let them do it, then just failed to work. Sometimes you were lucky and the customer asked first. Usually not. Oh, and no.. I don't know why the THIRD (B) version was called Operating System Release 2 (OSR2) either! Kind regards, Julian [1] Yes I know.. same letter.... howling fit of tech support rage here I come :/ [2] New word alert ;) -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
