I can't quite remember the command as I don't use Debian distros any more but something along the lines of dpkg --reconfigure xserver-xorg ought to help? Don't just throw that randomly into the command line though! Have a google along those lines, or maybe somebody on here can refine this command to what's needed? Or maybe try "man dpkg"?
