[LUG] Laptops, Cameroon, Customs and Frustration

Well it seems that the 2nd hand laptop that I lovingly restored and
installed GNU/Linux and then spent a small fortune shipping via DHL to
the Cameroon has actually arrived in the Cameroon 4 days later than
estimated (due to the package lying around in the Staples (DHL Service
Point) Office in Torquay for 4 days).

Only problem now is that they need to raise £100 customs duties in order
to "release" it. Im beginning to think that it would have been cheaper
to fly out with it myself. The Cameroon government putting crippling
taxes on technology (2nd hand at that) is not going to help improve the
educational and technical prospects for its people.

I find it very Frustrating ........

Tom.
