Are you aware of Kubuntu? Ubuntu, but with KDE instead of Gnome.
There are others too, like Xubuntu, using XFCE.  Of course, you can always 
install KDE via apt-get or the Adept package manager in your Ubuntu, but I 
suspect it is easier to simply download Kubuntu.
