Well if you are concerned about this issue then perhaps you need an
"educational" event to set them straight on the matter..... something
like say SFD for example ?

Not really. If they want to bugger up their networks (in the case of sysadmins) or just be less productive (office/home users) then I don't mind. It's just important to ensure that GNU continues to be superior when they finally ask "surely there is something better?"
