I thought Ben meant actually adding the feature into gtk or qt
libraries rather than using them. I am aware that they can co-exist.

I imagine my choice of language would depend on what info I can find
on the I/O stuff. I don't really have a favourite. I always find
myself thinking "this bit would be so much easier in [some other
language I'm not using]" no matter what I'm using.

The hardest thing I think would be to intercept the keyboard. So I'll
try that first. A quick google (ie first relevant link) suggests
kernel hacking is needed for this kind of stuff, which is certainly
beyond me.

Maybe i could just borrow code from jupiter. Or maybe there is another
non-kernel way to tackle this. Any suggestions?
