What i have done is rebuilt qemu with gcc 3.3 and the kqemu module with gcc 4 (as that is my kernel build version so no choice). You don't need to roll back, i have gcc-3.3 and gcc-4.0 installed at the same time. Debian symlinks gcc to gcc-4.0 for me so apps compile with the latest version but if i want to override i just set CC=gcc-3.3 on the ./configure command line or via the env var and it build with that version.
