Open up http://webstandards.org/files/acid2/test.html#top in firefox 1.5.0.4,
and tell me what you see. Do you see a smiley face? Or, do you see a face
that looks like it's just been hit by a bus travelling at 50km/h? ;)

Do you think things go from standard to "best current practice" overnight?

I guess you also think a product the size of IE goes from development to
release ovenright? I guess you've not considered release schedules, feature
freezes, etc?

Tell me: when did gecko first have full CSS 2 support? I think you'll be
surprised at the answer.

How much large scale software development have you done to be such an expert
in these matters, and declare that things should go from standard to 100%
supported and 100% bug free overnight?

Right - You mean the evil MIME sniffing that MSHTML does. yes, i agree, it's
evil. However, it's not a bug. Microsoft implemented the sniffing on
purpose and well documented it. goodness knows why they did it though.

.. of mis-quoted DOJ commends from http://toastytech.com/evil/fof.html (have
you ever read the real defense response? - i'm sure windows zealots could use
the SCO ones for propaganda in the same way you have just done agaisnt
microsoft). However, at least we're onto the DOJ anti-trust case.. something
which we can agree on ;)

Ben, what is point are you trying to make here? Why should we continually bash
microsoft? How does it help FOSS?

I, too, would like firefox to have a major market share. It would reduce my
development time massively due to just being able to develop to a rich set of
(fairly) modern standards. But that doesn't mean I need to constantly whine
about how bad Microsoft's products are.

1 - or to be exact in this exact case, firefox.
