probably the stuff you compiled doesn't work with the mandriva digikam 
setup and it's still using the original version of libgphoto, or did you 
uninstall it?. Try downloading and installing this one,

It's always better to use binaries built for your distribution if you 
can. Try uninstalling the version you built if you can and then as root 
"rpm -Uvh libgphoto2.... ", (apologies if I'm teaching you to suck eggs 
here).

Can't guarantee this'll solve it, but it stands a better chance than the 
other. Also as root "rpm -qa | grep libgphoto" should tell you what you 
actually have installed, or at least what mandriva thinks is installed!
