Re: [LUG] intermittant resolver issues

Thanks for reply Simon - no specific domains cause problems could be BT (our ISP), could be steam-experience (our business), could be Google, could be anything -- totally unpredictable.

One weird one - particular web site failed to find under www .xxx but then researched itself again under www1 .xxx and worked!!!

I am totally baffled!!

We do have forwarders listed in our DNS config file pointing at the BT DNS servers. I thought this was the only way to chain DNS queries from our domain to the outside world. It has always worked in the past!!!! .

Will forward our config files if this would help anyone to help us!!.

cheers

David

ps why 'EVIL' forwarding??

intermittent - as far as I was aware, a DNS works or doesn't.

Not if the results returned from the authoritative DNS servers for the
domain are inconsistent. Then it will work sometimes and not others.

What domains are you experiencing the problem with?

Is the DNS server using the root name servers or using something evil
like forwarding?

Simon, wondering realising the email from the server at work he was
looking for probably got greylisted.
