FAQ: > www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html I read something interesting on the BBC article... "Microsoft sponsors Cape Cornwall School in Penzance and Woodlands School in Plymouth, and also supports Broadclyst Primary School in Exeter, Eggbuckland School in Plymouth and Rosemellin Primary School in Camborne. " I think MS have been reading Linux Format. Woodlands School are one of the schools that use Karoshi. Woodlands school's testimonial on Karoshi says.... (link here http://www.linuxgfx.co.uk/karoshi/mambo/dev/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=63&Itemid=36) Coming into my post at a special needs secondary school, I was faced with mainting a single-linux server for a workgroup of over 20 machines. Since I have implemented The Project (Karoshi), I have been able to offer ICT services to an excellent degree of effectiveness. Staff find being able to access their information from any machine in the school extremely useful. While everyone not being IT "literate", those using our school intranet find that it's also a great way for everyone to stay informed, and find out if a room is available to use for a particular day. >From an administrative perspective, The Project (Karoshi) has given me the possibility to get an integrated multi-server environment up in a fraction of the time of a 2K server environment implementation. Cost being a factor, any entry-level network administrator will be able to easily maintain our implementation in the future. Thus, freeing up time for training our staff with new ICT skills. /Kevin Tunison/ /Network Manager/ /Woodlands School/ /Plymouth, Devon / Interesting me thinks. If schools get an interest in Linux & Open Source, Microsoft step in and offer sponsorship (or should I say, being locked into MS Software for god knows how long!) Remind me, wasn't it Microsoft who was accused of anti-competitive practices by both the US.gov & European Union?
