Re: [LUG] Installing subversion on Red Hat 9

Hi John,

Aha. I think you've hit the nail. I assumed that pointing to the source of berkeley
db would build the required libraries when I run the configure, make, make install
on subversion. Evidently this is not the case so I need to compile the berkeley db
independently so first job this morning is to figure out how to compile berkeley db
in the source directory as there does not seem to be a .configure script in the root
src directory.

Alternatively I will find out if I can build berkeley in statically if it is
supported.

Incidentally I have been informed via the subversion mailing list that subversion
uses two methods of storage, berkeley db and fsfs. Apparently fsfs is the preferred
option for the later versions of subversion. Can anyone confirm this as I have not
seen this mentioned in the docs.

Regards
Phil.
