I know of a 9 month industrial placement in Spain that involves some Linux 
work. From what I gather about placements though, the work is probably 
limited to making coffee. They haven't got back to me since I e-mailed 3

There were some on the IAESTE list, but I think it's too late to apply. Which 
seems to be the situation everywhere. If your placement is part of a degree 
you should see if your university is a member of any organisations like 
IAESTE which arrange more specialist placements. 

The situation at Plymouth University is pretty bad; Most of the "placement 
opportunities" seem little more than Google'd and totally unappealing unless 
you're a CSN student that wants to be locked in a cage programming all day. 
Which isn't so good for me and my fellow ITA and MPT cohorts. ;)
