"Off" even, or perhaps not as the case may be.

If I stick "about:config" and switch "keyword.enabled" to false, the URL
http://http:// takes me to somewhere that tries to open a pop-up :(

You can change the default behaviour with keyword.URL...

I may be defecting from Google to more politically correct (shall we say
more ethical) search engines in future, so this may be useful.

What I really want to know is how to quickly clear the search box in
firefox after a search, for a new search, "double click, then click" is
slowing me down.... Perhaps I should just double click on the URL instead.
