Yep sorted my sound problem. Was a combination of factors: i) Needed disable onchip sound in BIOS ii) Removed all alsa modules using synaptic package manager iii) Installed kernel 2.6.8-2-386 (which has alsa built in). And that was all! Had tried kernel 2.6.8-2-686 (I was using 2.4.27-2-686) but it seemed to take forever to boot. So I now have a fully functional linux installation and am very happy! :D Anton -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
