Hi, I'd have to go with 'Centronics 50' which; as the small description stated that this connector is- 'used as ext connector on older IBM compatable SCSI controler cards' sounds like bad news for finding a controler card. Well at least I know what I'm looking for now. Thanks Rob and Robin. Jon Davey.

Can you match the connector up to anything from this page: http://www.directron.com/scsiglossary.html Rob
Jon It's actually not uncommon on older external SCSI peripherals of any make. Any controller card with a 50-pin external connector should be OK. Even if the controller card has an external 68-pin connector, there are adapters available. You then just need the right cable and/or converters. My Advansys ASB-3940UA SCSI controller has what Rob's web page refers to as half-pitch DB50 externally, and with the right cable I have connected it to a SCSI DAT drive equipped with the same Centronics 50 as you have. I don't know whether that card is still available, but it was pretty cheap I seem to recall. I find Ebay an excellent source of old SCSI hardware. Incidentally, my other SCSI controller (a more expensive Adaptec) has the same external connector and is currently connected to the DAT drive. All of which is to say don't be disheartened and have a scan across Ebay.
