Going through my filing system I came across a photocopy of the article "A Method for Obtaining Digital Signatures and Public-Key Cryptosystems" by Rivest, Shamir and Adleman in Comm. ACN, February 1978, the one that sets out the principles and mathematical foundation of public key encryption. If anyone is interested I'll bring it to a meeting -- or shall I donate it to the DCLUG library?
