Re: [LUG] More On The Patents/M$ Agenda

Hi Sadie,

Technicallly that's not really MS, that's the technoweenies who know how to exploit the continuing catalogue of glaring security holes in Windows. Surely you're not suggesting that MS programmers are capable of efficient enough programming to fit a worm into a tiny email attachment? Hell if MS wrote Virii they'd come on a DVD with InstallShield Wizard and a request to "Run this program please or it invallidates your EULA". Mind you they'd still catch some idiots running it. Or were you thinking of MS Service Packs? Equally capable of screwing up a perfectly working (well as far as Windows ever is!) system.

BTW it's not *all* flavours of Windows in all cases, MSBlast for example
would only work on XP and 2K.. Windows 98 et al were unaffected.

Cheers,

Julian
God!Jules..I was joking!

O.K.,Mr Pedantic-I should have phrased that bit with more precision. There is a wealth of malware to be discovered that you will find runs jolly well on your choice of Windows..
PURLEASE!don't try to teach yer Grandmother to suck eggs where Windows exploits are concerned.
All I ever did on that platform was read f-secure's entire dictionary!
Luckilly,I never got infected-but only because I spent day in day out learning how to "Harden W2K".
I was a gibbering bag of nerves.
GNU/Linux put me in tune wiv the cosmic rhythm of the universe,Dude.I'm far more chilled these days.Utterly revolutionised my life,it did.
Reckon it should be prescribed on the NHS-which of course it could be-it's free.
