[LUG] Old laptop as a server (Possibly OT)

Hi everyone,

This is more of a hardware/advise question that anything specifically to do
with GNU/Linux (but GNU/Linux is running on the aforementioned
hardware :-) ).

I have an old dell laptop which the lcd has failed on, so i have set this up
with Debian testing as a IPSEC VPN server and a antispam/antivirus mail relay
for my network.

The question is it safe to use a laptop 24/7 in this manner running from its
powersupply with the battery left in as a crude UPS system or does anybody
out there think this is a fire risk? or have any other advise?

Best regards
