No we run our VNC sessions through XDM, so uses get a login prompt. When they logout the session is reset back to XDM login

Works well. I did look at LTSP but never managed to complete the evaluation of it and have not looked into it any further although i suppose I should.

Surely thats only if you want persistent sessions. Otherwise why not use remote X Terminals a la the Linux Terminal Server project (www.ltsp.org)
