I've started with the PERL client Jarl - hmm... I also started
with the server charente.de which might have been a mistake -

When I was doing some work for Weft (in Scotland), we used jabber
to communicate.  Gabber declined to install for me, so I used Jarl.
It seemed OK, though rather primitive, and was much better later on
during the time I used it.

Where do I find Jabber conference group names, or is this
another Jarl failing?
What JID do I use for a IRC chat "????@irc.charente.de" ?

Not sure, we only had one channel.  Just a brief reply to confirm
that I found Jarl to be perfectly usable.
