hi steve

pgaccess (on linux) is pretty good. there are some good tools for windows clients as well. i'll try to remember to post some names.

and - not wanting to punt for work - it is dangerous for the layman to create databases. we come accross these sometimes when they start falling apart (Access does have a size limit) and it is very difficult for them to accept that the DB has to be redesigned from scratch!!!

Postgres, my database of choice, is also a pain for transistion. What MS has over linux is a suite of GUI tools. Classic Unix databases lack the leyman (sp?) interface that is required to allow the next man to develop database appications. Is there an ODBC based database management tool out there?
