Well I managed to get minicom and hyperterminal to chat quite nicely, set the baud rate high and you should be able to transfer files quite quickly. Other alternatives might be a USB-to-USB cable with the relevant linux stuff installed, not sure how difficult this would be. Let us all know how it went.
