RE: [LUG] partition sizes

Re: Partitioning.

To be honest for home usage I wouldnt bugger about with having lots of
different partrions for /boot and the like. The main thing is to have
somthing like home split off so you can happily(ish) nuke the system and
keep your data. hence why on my system the root homedir is /home/root.

My home box setup: (its got 128MB swap too). Those of you farmiliar with
my system will know this has has stuff trimmed (several vfat drives and 2
scsi emulated cd drives)

[root at gilbert root]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hdb1 2.0G 584M 1.3G 30% /
/dev/hdb5 1.9G 344M 1.4G 19% /home

Although if you really want to go for big configuration, this is what the
partion table is like on the server www.lug.termisoc.org runs on:

[chas at area51 chas]$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
/dev/hda1 197M 143M 44M 76% /
/dev/hda5 4.3G 2.4G 1.7G 58% /home
/dev/hda9 53M 1.3M 49M 3% /tmp
/dev/hda6 994M 628M 315M 67% /usr
/dev/hda7 197M 100M 87M 53% /var
