[LUG]Re: Domain and Website

I don't believe the domain is paid for by GoDaddy. We only use GoDaddy as a domain registrar and my understanding is that Matt (very kindly) continues to pay for the domain.

We don't need to transfer it to another doman registrar to be able to host it as we please, we already do that. We don't use any other aspect of GoDaddy's services.

Hi Paul and everyone else.

The Nominet registration shows that the dcglug.org.uk is actually owned
and paid for by godaddy.com.

This means that someone in 2004 made the grave mistake of registering
the name with a hosting company!

The Nominet registration shows that the dcglug.org.uk name is "Renewal
Restricted" with "Client Renew Prohibited". So godaddy.com are unable
to renew the name on the 4th December this year.

What is needed is for someone to contact Nominet to check that we can
ourselves buy the domain name, using a trusted member (suggest Paul
Sutton since he has most of the contributions on our website) to
register it in their own name directly with Nominet. Then we will be
free to use any hosting that we want to use.

Hi

I just wondered who was in control of the Domain name for the lug
and the hosting.?

I am just asking as the current website is getting rather old, and
harder for me to maintain,  so as I have my own domain, I set up
grav (which is what I use on my website) on a subdomain have along
with a few other lug members on the Matrix channel have been
working on a potential new website.

I felt doing this was better than just posting here to the list
that we need a better and as I was mostly the one trying to keep it
going, decided to see if I can create something that has more up to
date information and is easier to maintain.

Just asking.

Thanks

Paul
