I'm not sure how involved they still are, but Simon and Neil from 2times.do were always supportive of the groups, and may be willing to lend a hand getting things running ..

I'll talk to the Library staff at Barnstaple, to see if they can advise on the more administrative aspects of running their Jam, and any tips to get started. It always helps a great deal having an enthusiastic member of staff, even if they don't necessarily have the expertise themselves .. Build It and They Will Come is a useful adage here!

Of course, I can pop down and wave the proverbial pom-poms and share expertise myself, but this might be better done when there is something in-place. I don't know if Lucy from the previous 'Jam' is still around, but she might not read this list .. one of the previous 'team' may still have an email for her stashed away, perhaps.

I have some odd bits of kit that has been generously donated via this list still available, that doesn't necessarily suit the Jams I'm currently active in. Not much in terms of Pi's etc, but some bits of ancillary kit for building circuits, etc...

Cheers,
Michael.

Cool thanks,  I think just getting code club started would be a good first step,  Tinkerers may be a good option as the original LUG meets I ran eventually morphed in to various stem groups,  then Tinkerer is an off shoot from that.

Problem is that Paignton Library can't spare staff to be in the room and active on the day, left in the hands of volunteers and that ended up as just me.
Tinkerers is more of a seperate group who have booked and paid for the room, more relaxed and we can get on with projects or rater at present discuss what we are working on and swap ideas..
If anyone wantts to join up with the Tinkerers we can stilll do Linuxy stuff.   Just need a larger cohort of people.   Also promote the fact we still exist would be a good thing,l   btw I still j have the big banner Tom B had made up years ago.
Lucy is really busyl,l  Tom B seems to have fallen off the radar due to various things (not seen Tom B in ages).   Not sure about a few of the others who were local  Gordon Moved back to Scotland.    I think Roly moved too,
Paul

I think I'd be quite firm with this, and state that if the library cannot staff it, it won't happen. Simple as that. Volunteers are great and all that, but without the backup that's all it is ..

We were lucky with the core we had with the old Torbay Jam, but finding willing volunteers who aren't already quite stretched is always a challenge...
