Dear Brad, > Until I got an electric car, all I used a mobile for was making calls. > Still don't stream online content. Streaming content is not for everyone, and certainly not whilst driving! But really, that is my point - most people do not even scratch the surface of their devices' power as it is, but that doesn't stop the relentless marketing/journalism that £300 is barely 'mid-range' for a phone: >>from expertreviews.co.uk: >>What is a “mid-range” smartphone? >>When we talk about mid-range smartphones, we generally mean handsets >>that cost between £300 and £500 to buy outright. My sister recently bought a ~£15 phone; despite having a colour screen, Bluetooth audio and a calculator, it doesn't have a proper call log. What I would like to see is a free software 'dumbphone', that would have just enough processing power to install a few programs for individual use cases - in your case, maybe something to interface with the car's systems, in my sisters case a call log; this would be a lot less 'dumb' than immutable firmware in my opinion! Wishful thinking for the near future but maybe something to hope for.
