I make two assumptions.
a) Your desktop is an actual desktop i.e. computer without a screen,
(not a laptop used as a desktop)
b) Your settings have make 'monitor 1' the old VGA connection to the
Dell monitor.
Then connecting a new 'monitor2' via graphics card is seen as a separate
device capable of being attached.
Thus 2 monitors in settings. Each using a different graphics card, one
the inbuilt VDA and the other the GeForce
c) How to resolve. I am not sure, but it may be as you say BIOS settings.
I only use a second monitor (32" converted TV) when teaching and it is
recognised by both Windows 10 and openSUSE when attached by HDMI but
this uses the internal integral Intel Graphics chip.
On an old desktop machine (some 7 years ago) with a GeForce GPU I
remember it took a lot of trouble to get it to recognise my monitor.
