[LUG] Open Office 2.2 - paragraph numbering

I have a list of 100 seperate paragraph items, numbered 1 to 100, with the numbers inserted autmatically by OOo writer ("Numbering ON/OFF) eg (forget the 9 which was pasted in error)

10. Which plant is poisonous
                        ragwort mugwort woundwort

11. The leaves of which tree are poisonous
                        pine yew spruce

Now I need to put a new paragraph between 10 and 11, labelling it 11 and altering 11 to 12 and the rest of the list accordingly, so para 100 becomes 101.  This is an example of many paras that will have to be inserted at the right place, with the numbering taking care of it.   It seems to have a mind of its own.   Having loaded OOo without help files, I'm lost as what to do (I tried to download them but failed).  Could someone email me the correct help page, or just tell me what I have to do, please.
