[LUG] Ralink drivers and sky wireless netgear modem.

Am having great difficulties with this.
I had installed ubuntu and had no joy in getting wireless working at all so
installed opensuse 10.2 as had read that there was good support for ralink
drivers in linux and suse hase modules for them.

Didn't get anywhere but found a good suse wiki page and downloaded latest
ra61 driveres for pci card which compiled and installed fine.
Edited and placed the networking scripted to the correct folder.
I keep getting after setting up in yast that my netgear modem and a modem
across the street can be detected but I cannot connect to my own modem which
is set up wich wpa-psk on the modem itself.
I setup wpa in yast but knetwork tells me that the network is setup up with
wep encryption.
Naturally when I try to enter the requested network key it fails.
The wiki page suggests that there is a problem with setting up with the
network manager and to use traditional method using ifup.
I tried deleting the card and starting over and all was ok until I then had
to edit the config file to set up wpa.
I'm just getting constant lock ups after about 2 minutes.
I have tried booting up with acpi=off and in suse safe mode but I still get
a lock up even in console.

I need to edit some of the configuration files I think to sesolve the issue
but I don't have time before the system hangs.
There isn't even time to re-run yast to remove the driver.
I tried modprove -r rt61 in case the issue was with the driver module but I
was left with a non responsive keyboard.
Ctrl-alt-delete not working.

Hence forced to reboot to windows.

Any advice appreciated.

Ray
