Re: [LUG] Problems removing Windows manager and loader from laptop and installing Linux

Hi,

Can I confirm a couple of things before advising you further?

- Is your drive Bitlocker encrypted (If running Windows 10/11 Pro, drives can sometimes be Bitlocker encrypted using an encryption key stored with your Microsoft account if you signed in previously during initial setup). This may need to be disabled prior to continuing.

- What version of Linux Mint are you installing?

- Is Secure Boot enabled on your system? Usually it is best practice to disable Secure Boot prior to installing if a Linux distribution does not support secure boot.

eSata SSDs is what I believe you're referring to.

Thanks,

Will :)

I have acquired a used LENOVO IDEAPAD 1 11ADA05/AMD 3020e 4gig 64gig SSD .. it has Windows 11 installed .. I have been trying to remove said windows and install Linux Mint .. it will go through the processes to the point where it declares that there is no harddrive space available .. computer has a Windows manager in Bios .. I did manage to replace Windows with Linux Mint on an HP Stream with a similar SSD (e card?) type but have forgotten how I did it. Looking for advice. Thank you
