Re: [LUG] Thunderbird

Thanks for all replies. I have made the change in the View menu and it seems to work now. I do not remember ever setting that up in View, so it must have been the default. I do wonder at some of these programmers and their choices for the defaults. I plan one or two emails on that subject.

It had never occurred to me to check the View menu when I was searching for an answer. I was looking at preferences. Silly me,

Neil

o problem,  of course this seems to raise the question of if you were viewing normal headers before hand,  why after updating thunderbird is it now showing full headers.

I am sure, in general, this should not change unless you tell the client to do so.

If anyone else notices this then it may be worth raising here,  to see if there is an actual issue.

At least we have solved the issue.

Paul

I'm using Thunderbird 78.14 - the next minor upgrade - no upgrade has ever changed my view options. Like Paul I don't know why this seems to have. r Perhaps with the greatest respect to Neil an accidental mouse click at around the same time as the change? I'm pleased it's resolved now :)

I have updated Thunderbird for many years and it has never changed the View Header settings.

However, I often, change he settings to 'all' when reading emails from PR China and elsewhere This allows me to know and advise how many PRC servers & IPs it passed through before entering into UK for me to read. Usually a minimum of 7 to 8 internal PRC servers before jump to outside PRC. These I copy and report back to my Chinese correspondent, when he is dubious of some servers, not in the 'normal flow'.

I think that I have misled people on the list. When I said that I had updated TBird, I was not being exact enough. I use MX Linux. When a newer version appears it requires a new install. This is what happened. I was running MX 19.4 and decided to upgrade to the newest version, 21. So I had to install v21 as a brand new install. When I checked TBird it was now version 78.13. I do not like it as much as the earlier version, but am doing my best.

So, when I found these problems with forwarding an email it was a complete surprise. And no, as far as I am aware, I have never made any changes to the View menu. anyway, it now seems to be working as required.
