Dear all, Yesterday, as some of you may have noticed, was Google's 22nd birthday - celebrated in their traditional fashion with a 'Google Doodle'. It is rather amusing on multiple levels. https://www.google.com/doodles/googles-22nd-birthday With pandemic-induced lockdown, the letter G is communicating with the other letters in 'google' via online video conferencing. I would have thought that letters in the same word would surely be isolating in the same household, but apparently not for 'google'! What I also find somewhat amusing is that the image on the screen bears little resembelance to Google's own video conferencing programs, Hangouts, Duo and Meet... Instead, the user interface is resemblant of that of Zoom - a grid of pictures on the left, with a panel on the right containing a list of participants above a row of icons, all above the chat area! Of course the similarity is subtle, maybe even tenuous, but I'm sure the layout will be familiar to those who have used Zoom. As for myself, I use DuckDuckGo for search. I just happened to be working on a different computer yesterday, thus seeing the picture. Maybe DuckDuckGo is missing a trick with 'doodles', as they are certainly a lively addition to an otherwise utilitarian page.
