Re: [LUG] [External] Re: consider donating CPU and GPU time to COVID-19 projects at folding home

I’ve not tried Folding, instead I use BOINC (https://boinc.berkeley.edu/) – one of the projects I run (Rosetta@home) is modelling Covid-19 too

For BOINC, you effectively “subscribe” to a topic (project) and they run whatever they’re running (which you can look at) – so perhaps Folding is the same? You just set it up and then you’ll be running various projects, some of which are the ones listed in that article??

For me, I can pause other projects, and give Rosetta all the compute time I allow BOINC to use (~75% if I’m not using the computer… keeps my office just warm enough overnight that I don’t need to heat the room before I start work!)

How are you supposed to tell it what project to work on? I've looked everywhere and all it seems to do is pick the project it wants to work on during installation. I can find no option to change the project data.

Worth a look.

The Folding@home distributed computing project has added twenty new Coronavirus (COVID-19) projects since earlier this week that uses donated CPU power to research new treatment methods.
