East is significantly out of my way if travelling South for me.
Viable waypoints include:
- Okehampton
- Tavistock
- Yelverton
- Roborough
Even Ivybridge and Two-Bridges are long via's, as are Buckfastleigh (hi Gordon!), Ashburton and Totnes.
Perhaps you can brush up on your Devon geography!
