Ah that indeterminate "reasonable time".
Your comment caused me to look up Holsworthy on openstreetmap as I have never been there. It also brought back memories of a voluntary tuition tutoring session (computers for seniors) I run, where a person did not turn up. I left after some 30 minutes of waiting. The library phoned my wife, who phoned me to return and met him. I did so. It appeared, that our weekly tutoring session was the only time he left his house, for his mental health it was important. Loneliness and "kikihomori" are now very much in evidence for elderly;  and also youngsters , who only communicate on phones and have no 'personal life'  Japan statistics say youngsters do not talk to each other in person and i see evidence of this in my village A remote 'contact' on social media is replacing real human interactions.. Now I always wait a long time before abandoning my voluntary sessions.
Judgement of 'reasonable' is very difficult

Interesting. I will wait for at least an hour. I know the people who run the pub and many of the regulars, so plenty of chances to chat. Or have a little doze! Luckily I do not have time to be lonely at home, what with 'her indoors' and two little dogs to take out.

All the best,

Neil
