[LUG] WIFI

Hi All

During my networking questions several elements have come to light that I have previously not given much thought to:

1. Frequency is either 2.4ghz or 5.2ghz

2. Different channels

I always assumed this was 'managed' by the router. So when I type iwconfig into a terminal, I am told this:
enp0s31f6  no wireless extensions.

wlp1s0    IEEE 802.11  ESSID:"DrayTek"
          Mode:Managed  Frequency:2.462 GHz  Access Point: 00:1D:AA:02:DA:3C
          Bit Rate=18 Mb/s   Tx-Power=15 dBm
          Retry short limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
          Power Management:on
          Link Quality=39/70  Signal level=-71 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0  Rx invalid crypt:0  Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:249  Invalid misc:2167   Missed beacon:0

lo        no wireless extensions.
The confusing statement of no wireless extensions has me confused but is it possible to tell my computer (Ubuntu 18.10) to connect to 5.2ghz (I assume is stronger?) please? Also can I tell individual machines to connect to different channels please?

Thanks
