[LUG] [OT maybe] CVE-2016-5195 vs Amazon FireOS 5.6.2.0

 

Not sure if this will be of interest to anyone else but if you happen to 
have bought a brand new Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet for £99.99 during the 
Prime sale (bargain!) or have one lying around anyway, then good news!

Even the very latest less-than-one-month-old Fire OS 5.6.2.0 is *still* 
vulnerable to DirtyCOW so it's trivial to root with a Linux box + ADB. 
This means that the intentionally crippled Fire tablets are a really 
viable and stupidly cheap multipurpose device as long as you don't mind 
uncrippling them.

I can post detailed steps if anyone wants.
