Hi All,

I'm thinking of setting up a mail server for my domain on a spare Raspberry Pi I have - not because I need to but just something I would like to try. I found a website with detailed instructions to setup Postfix and Dovecot which /seems/ straightforward. However before I potentially waste time on something that will never work, one basic question comes to mind. Will it interfere with the mail service provided by my current host, Easyspace? Logic suggests it could but then I am brand new to this.

Kind regards,

Julian

Hi All,

After much thought I decided the potential aggravation wasn't worth it for something I was only considering as 'something to do' not because I have a particular need. My next gambit was a VPN server, however the NAS has a VPN server module, and after the headache started to form I ditched that too. I settled on a Print Server, as I saw a piece about adding Air Print capability to an RPi Print server. The basic print server is now working; as I have neither iPad nor iPhone I cannot test that yet. However the Android CUPS app I have is being a bit of a nuisance; although the phone can see the printer the app won't, which after about a day of aggravation is irritating.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice about the original mail server idea.

Kind regards,

Julian
