Re: [LUG] Text Messaging

Hi All

Thanks for all the replies. Just to fill everyone in a bit more.Â

The major reason for using text messaging is to get urgent updates to the programme out to young people. Normally we would be communicating week to week. But if there is a problem one week and the programme changes then we would need to get an update out. I would use email but I cannot guarantee they all have email. I know that young people and their parents have mobile phones!

Communication is frustrating and short of phoning everyone I cannot be sure they have received it. I suppose this is the best way. I am trying to see whether I can communicate via Web site posting and just leaving it the responsibility of the going person to check!

Any thoughts or ideas would be amazing.Â

Thanks

Rich

Hi Richard,

Can you explain a bit more about how you want to communicate?

I use a number of SMS services, but services typically charge 3p per text. The market is quite competitive, but in decline due to the Internet messaging apps that use data connections instead.
