google don't do email, they do gmail.  Yes, there's a large area of
overlap, but the two are not the same.  You'll notice that, even
nowadays, some people using gmail /still/ wonder why they're not getting
mailing list posts echoed back to them.

Since google's software is closed source, you cannot know whether
Roundcube is either less, or more, secure.  All you *can* say is that,
as Roundcube is open source, any security shortcomings will come to
light sooner or later, as a result of code scrutiny.  Whether those
shortcomings are rectified is another matter, obviously.  As for
reliability, there are many, *many* factors in play, not just
google/Roundcube.
